Project Life Tuesday - Week 6

So here we have week 6! Let's just pretend I am not 2 weeks behind and just be happy we have a week to post. I have thought about week 7... I drew a sketch to start planning it out. Does that count as being current? Besides... in my current concept of time.. which is Mono time... everything is slow and behind. Therefore behind is normal, so therefore.. I am normal and right on time. Makes total sense to me! So let's take a look at week 6 which of course starts with the now famous... pink shoes. I swear I am going to wear platform heels for one of these photos just to surprise ya'll. :)

The left page this week encompasses Monday thru Thursday. I usually end this side on Wednesday but this week I had so much date night stuff I needed the space on the right.

I made a little button banner for my date slot after seeing one in the current issue of CK. I found this quite fun and must make one again immediately. Buttons and Bakers Twine... what's not to love right?

The camera polaroid is from the new Dear Lizzy line and the No 6 was from a packet of cards I had from the Pink Paislee Daily Junque line. The date itself was die cut with my sizzlets... Is that what they are called? Been so long since I've used them I forget! ha!

On the left, all the pockets are about a date night Friday. Incorporated a Dear Lizzy jar tag... so cute! Added a pamphlet from Helzberg and used a piece of the Thin Mints box from cookies we bought that night. I cut up my hot chocolate cup from our end of the night treat at Starbucks and tucked that in a pocket. It was way to cute with the pink and red hearts not to use it!

My favorite pocket is the bottom right. I peeled a petal off of my rose from Darrel, adhered it to a journal card with a little temporary adhesive and then ran it thru a laminating machine. I was hoping it would press it and preserve it. I figured even if it dries and cracks or crumbles, the lamination would still hold it in place? Lets hope.

Let's hope that posted in some sort of order that makes sense... Blogger is being particularly annoying this evening... How does it just magically time these events with days were I am very tired and have even less patience than normal? Was there a memo I missed?
Linking up with all the Project Life fun over at The Mom Creative again this week!  Be sure to check things out over there!

So before I have to chuck my pretty pink computer thru the window... because Blogger is annoying me... I shall bid you good night.
Blessings!

Misc. On Monday

1) This would be dinner tonight.  Why did I take a picture of dinner, other than the fact that the project lifer.. scrapbooker.. in me tends to do this anyway?  Because a very good friend from church and her daughter brought this to Darrel and I for dinner tonight.  She talked to us yesterday and said she had been concerned about me while I've been sick with Mono and she wanted to bring us dinner and she was NOT taking no for an answer.  Trust me... I tried.  :)  She made us homemade chicken salad, brought really yummy ciabatta rolls and croissants to eat it on, made us homemade chicken noodle soup, and brought little mini chocolate and butterscotch pies for dessert.  She even asked if we needed drinks and was worried about leaving us with any dishes to do.  I told her I want to be just like her when I grow up.  She is an amazing Christian lady and such an amazing example of having a humble, loving servants heart.  I am so serious about wanting to be like her.

2) Date night report!  We had another evening at home.  Yes.. the mono was responsible for that choice.  Was feeling quite tired so Darrel brought us home La Carreta, yes again.. we could totally do that every day and I'd be quite happy with that!  We ate Reester bunnies and watched TV and a movie (The Way).  We played with our kittens.  We broke my phone case.... well sort of... see #3 for that story.

3) When our new phones came they had that plastic coating on the front of the phones to protect them and we of course had to peel it off.  While we were doing this.. I said to my husband that it looked like there was plastic on the back too because it felt weird and the writing looked blurred.... He looked at it and assured me there was not a plastic coating to peel off... and we went on with our lives.  Until Friday when he says to me.... did you ever peel the plastic off the back of your phone?  I am like um... you told me there wasn't plastic on it remember... oh.  Right.  Then of course he remembers.  However... he has recently discovered there was plastic because it got all wrinkled and started peeling off his phone. He removes the pretty pink NEW case off of my phone to deal with said plastic.  Great.  Problem solved.  Until we put the case back on... sort of.  ONE stinkin' time taking the case off and it no longer fits the phone correctly.  GRRRRR It now sticks up and leaves an edge on one side while feeling like it is falling off the other side.  The moral of this story?  Always listen to your wife in the first place when she tells you things.  Wives are always right.  Am I right?  Of course I am... I'm a wife.  :)

4) The silver lining of the phone story?  Now I get to get this case.  It's pink.  It has flowers.  It's very girly... and I am liking it a lot in the picture.  Lets hope the real thing is just as good.  It's amazing in the 2 weeks since the phone came out the choice in cases as increased drastically from when I was first looking.  Maybe I should have gotten pink leopard... How about cute polka dots?  I am thinking I saw my friend Lori's hand go up on that one...

5) The friend that brought dinner?  She stood there and asked us if we need help with some light cleaning too.  She was actually willing to come clean our house for us.  I told you she is amazing.  See... you want to be like her when you grow up too don't you.

6) Finally got pictures taken of Proj. Life week 6!  Will be posting those tomorrow.  I am still a little behind and now need to completel weeks 7 & 8.  If you'd like a peek before they hit the blog you can look here! Currently I am working on a new actual layout!  Last time I did one of those was um... last year sometime.  Does that still qualify me as a scrapbooker?  Or am I about to lose my certification for lack of use?  Ha!  Having some fun with hexagons on this one.  Can' wait to show you!

7) I am considering signing up for a 5K (or 10K) coming up in late April.  Me.  The girl that hasn't done her normal walking routine for um... at least 2 mos?  I think I should be able to manage 3 miles by then... AND it would give me some motivation and something to work for to get back on track after being down for so long with this mono stuff.... its a good idea right?

8) Ok who can believe that the time change... spring.. and yes.. Resurrection Sunday are all just mere weeks away.  What happened to winter.  Wasn't it just Christmas?  Perhaps it feels that way to me because my January and February and all I intended to get done... well they disappeared when the Mono monster arrived.   That also means Carry the Cross and a 12 mile walk is close.  Hoping I will be able to particpate in that this year.  Feeling a little concerned about it at this point. I'll just have to have a great walking month in March and all will be good right?

9) Speaking of phone cases.. cause we were earlier... right?  Anyone have an Otterbox?  I was thinking maybe I should get one of those.. but have been hindered by the fact that the one I need doesn't come in pink yet.  Because that is very important.  It is.  If it should come in pink at some point, are they good cases?  I had always heard they were however recently my niece got one for her iphone and she said it fit loose and then some of her friends said that was how they are.... Is this true?  Anyone?

10) I am currently wondering if we... ok I... should get like Zumba or a dance "game" for Kinect.  I really like Zumba.. might be fun to do it with the Kinect.  Could be another work out boost for one trying to get back with the program.  Looks fun when they do it on TV so it must be fun right... cause commercials never lie... Perhaps I will see about renting one first.  Good plan.

I am off for now but tune in tomorrow for Project Life Tuesday!  Blessings!

Thankful Thursday

Well this was about the extent of my day.  Well.. this and pancakes.  I had a pancake craving in the worst way today.  Good thing it was a day at home so I could make myself some.... even though they taste better when Darrel makes them.  He is good at everything.  Even pancakes.

Between last night and today I managed to complete Project Life week 6!  Happy about that.  Thought I'd give you a little peek!  I need to get some better photos taken in the sunlight.  Had some fun with this week using some new Dear Lizzy stuff, made a button banner after seeing one in the new CK, cut up a Starbucks cup for one of my pockets and yes.. there was washi tape, stickers and sewing!  I even drug out a sizzlets font for my title.  As I was running tiny little letters thru the xyron... and then had the fun of getting the glue yuck off of the edges, I quickly rememebered why I don't use the sizzlets fonts all that often.  Although I should cause I have like 9 of them.. and they are cute.  I know... I need a cameo.  Maybe need is a strong word... I am thinking Darrel might not see it as one of life's necessities.

Guess it wasn't a very eventful day.  Pancakes, scrapping, oh... and gave myself a manicure.  PINK of course.  Pink with sparkly multi color glitter tips.  I seem incapable of just painting my nails one simple color these days... it's probably part of the same sickness that causes the scrapping compulsion.  Ya think?  :)  I also played with my new phone and helped my niece find and purchase a book she needed.  Yes.. I am just the best Aunt ever.  Of course.

The reason for the uneventful day was of course the ever present mono.  I am improving.  I had some better days this week.  But the fatigue.  Not going away and today, fever again.  Did manage to work more than 6 hours at the office yesterday!  Seems like after every good day... then there is a few days of rest required.  Hopefully the days in between will continue to grow shorter.  So need to get moving on several things that I intended to start on back in January.

Despite the Mono... and life not going according to my grand plan.. ha!... still many things to be thankful for this week such as:

  • free pink lip gloss in my sephora order.  How did they know?  ha!
  • new phones
  • a new phone that no longer calls me Melanie...
  • my sister!  She has been a HUGE help with starting to figure out a dress for our vow renewal and she sent me this nicest email offering to help on a day when I really needed it!
  • a pink case for my new phone
  • swiftkey X keyboard app for the phone.  It helps soooo much with touchscreen typing.  It has great auto correct and auto complete features and learns how you type and words you use.  When I went to sign a note to my husband, the words that came up, in the correct order were "love" "you" "baby" and "P"... apparently it knows me well.  Better than the part of the phone that thought I was Melanie!  Bwa ha ha ha ha
  • a fun date night at home last week
  • La Carreta carry out
  • playing with pocketbooth app for fun PL pictures
  • Project Life
  • using older stash items in PL
  • getting more work hours in this week
  • the pink Ugg boots
  • finally getting a new order of style A page protectors for PL... I was getting worried.  I was literally stalking Amazon and they sold out quickly after I got mine!
  • my husband still doing so much cooking, housework and laundry and taking good care of me!  Was happy to get in some cuddle time this evening.
  • getting the Newsletter done at work in record time and being able to work from home when needed
  • singing in church this past week
  • pink roses
  • watching our shows together with Darrel
  • new porch lights and fan
Time for bed!  Hoping to have a layout to share by the end of the weekend and would love to get PL week 7 done too.  This may be a bit ambitious for Mono girl.. but we will see.  Tune in next time to find out!  Blessings!

We Interrupt This Program...

To bring you this special report on date night.. and the weekend.. .and today.. and whatever else I can think of since I am behind on Project Life *gasp* and have nothing to post today!  Who wants to cry with me?  I was doing so good.  And then... then the mono fatigue tackled me and wrestled me to the ground... and no more staying with the program this week!  So lets recap... shall we?

Friday was date night!  But.. this girl.. she was tired.  Wednesday was a work day and an evening praise team rehearsal and I know to normal people this does not sound like much at all.... But to mono girl?  That was way too much.  Soooo tired for several days after that.  So for date night, we decided the best plan was staying home.  We decided on La Carreta carry out for dinner which was quite yummy and just let me tell you its very fun cuddling up on the couch in your jammies and sharing chips and salsa.

Instead of movies for date night, Darrel had the idea that we could catch up on all our DVR'd shows.  Isn't it funny the words that we now consider verbs?  DVR'd.... text... email... We like need a whole new tech section to the dictionary.  We had like 8 hours plus saved.  It was actually more fun than a movie because it makes conversation a little easier when you aren't having to pay such close attention to know what's happening.

We had ordered popcorn from a friend at church for a band fundraiser so we had special treats for TV watching.  Cheese and Caramel popcorn.  2 separate containers... but am I the only weird one who likes to eat them together?  It's like the cheese cuts the sweet of the caramel... honest.. I'm not imagining things.

We played with our new phones a bit and Darrel made us his famous date night milkshakes... Yummy!

It tastes even better when you have it in a pretty fiesta tervis tumbler don't you think?

As you may have noticed.. part of the playing with the phone included playing with the camera.  Our new phones have a front camera (or regular) so when you want to hold it out and take a picture of yourself, you can see what it will look like.  We were playing with the Pocketbooth App  and we got soooo cracked up trying to get our faces in the frame and figuring out where to look.... the result was the above photo strip (I like the bottom 2 the best) and a few other keepers such as this one...
Now isn't that attractive?  Perhaps good for use on next year's Christmas card?  No?  I was laughing.. .and saying how in all the photos my eyes looked squinty and was pulling on them like that saying to myself.. stop squinting.  Of course my kind husband figures this is the perfect time to snap the photo... Isn't that special?  All in all a perfect way to capture the memory of date night...

When our niece Lauryn was little she used to pull down her eyes like that and would ask if we want to "see her blood."  I have no idea why... I am sure my brother had something to do with that.  So I of course had to text her this photo and remind her of that.  It's an Aunt's job...
This... this would be proof that we are capable of eating somewhere other than LaCarreta on a Sunday afternoon.  Shocking I know.  Since we had LaCarreta for date night, we decided we felt like Braytens for Sunday lunch.  A lunch that we arrived at earlier than normal. You are just on the edge of your seat waiting to find out why aren't you?  I knew it. Sunday lunch is riveting stuff for the Koontz's...

I was still feeling tired... but a little better by the weekend.  Well Sunday took care of that right quick!  I was worship leader which means being at church at 8 AM for a rehearsal and then leading during the service.  For some reason... this can be quite an exhausting job on a good day.  At minimum its usually 4 hours of activity.  It wore me out!  Enough so that Darrel took one look at me by the time church was over and said... "just so you know... we are leaving."  Meaning no Sunday School.  I was tired enough so that I get a little staggery... is that a word? Staggery: When one don't walk so good.... There ya go, the official definition just for your reading pleasure.  So we had a quiet lunch at Braytens and headed home.  I slept for several hours... and could not seem to manage to get past the groggy stage for the rest of the day.

Darrel on the other hand was not suffering from an energy deficiency and he used his time to install new porch lights.  I think I mentioned the 30 year old fan light that was there died... good... and we needed a new one.  See we live in the "country" people and without a porch light... its like a cave out there!  I am all about having things lit up!  Very happy with our new lighting choice!  We got 2 of these (one on each side of the door) for I think like $35?  Made us both wonder um why did we wait so long?  I should also add... while he was installing the lights this involved clunking around in the attic for the whole time I was napping... Right over my head.  Even that did not keep me awake.
This would be one of today's Project Life photos.  See... the Sunday fatigue?  Still not gone. Last night?  Not a restful night.  Work today?  Um nope... Not up to that at all.  However I needed to work.   Got myself a shower... got on my PJ leggings and top, my cozy slippers... my coat... and headed to the office.  Yep.  Went to work in my PJ's.  I drove there, I went in my office and got the paperwork I needed.  I headed home.  I was not up to getting fancy for 5 minutes in the office.  PJ's at the office... I'm such a rebel.. ha!  Right.  I did manage to still do 5 hours of work on our newsletter... all from my recliner.  Not to shabby for tired mono girl.

I did manage to make myself a breakfast burrito for breakfast.  First time too!  I was making a normal turkey sausage and egg bagel sandwich.  Happened to see left over jalapenos and salsa from LaCarreta in the fridge... and next thing I know... I am making myself a burrito.  Yummy and really not to shabby on calories either.

Isn't it funny the things we decide we must memorialize for Project Life?  Well OK.. I admit it.  I already did that before just for scrapbooking purposes! ha!

And now I must say goodnight if I have any hope of making it to work tomorrow.  Hoping the rest of the week will hold feeling better, having some energy, completing week 6 & 7 Project Life, and doing a layout for Layout Tag on a message board I am part of.  It could happen.  Tune in next time to find out!  You know you want to.  ;)  Blessings!

You Can Call Me Melanie

For Valentine's Day, we decided our gift to each other would be new cell phones.  I think I mentioned that.  Our contract was up, there was a great special going on, so phones it is!  We were excited about this because we like our phones but we didn't get to actually have them for Valentine's Day because the store was sold out so we had to wait for them to ship.  They finally arrived yesterday.  We had to do all of the usual charging and learning where stuff was... which wasn't too bad because we had a Motorola Andorid system and these Razr Maxx are also Android.

So fast forward to today.... I am leaning my way around how my email works now and I notice something unusual... my phone apprently thinks my name is Melanie.  Yes... my phone calls me Melanie.  For whatever reason I found this quite amusing... I'm like OK.. .why does my phone think my name is Melanie?  It was weird... It had my facebook profile picture but not my name.  I begin to worry... Is someone named Melanie using my info on facebook?  Why would anyone want to be me on facebook?  I could think of much more exciting cool people to be than me.. trust me.  Then I notice the phone number... which seems familiar... but not.  So I get to thinking maybe it has to do with my contacts info which was loaded from the back up assistant.  Well.. there I find two entries for Melanie.  One with the right person (a friend), phone, name, and one with my picture, my cell number, her name, and her cell number also.  Toooo weird.  It somehow merged the two of us?  But still confused on that one because I was never in my own contacts list?   I deleted it... and all was well and yes, my phone stopped calling me Melanie.  So glad we could finally get aquianted.

Part way thru the day today, a pink phone case I ordered from Ebay arrived.  I of course needed to immediately turn my phone to its rightful color... PINK.  I mean it just didn't look like my phone without it.  Am I right?  So I mentioned the whole Melanie story and pink phone case on facebook and my friend Erica figured it all out... she said that see when the phone wasn't pink, it was "smart" enough to know it wasn't Deanna's phone.  Deanna's phone would be PINK so of course it figured I was Melanie.  Once I corrected the pink situation.. well then it knew.. oh!  This is Deanna's phone of course... I better stop calling her Melanie.... I of course liked this explanation much better than the duplicate contacts entry.  Don't you?

We had a nice valentines day.  It was a little sedate for what we might normally do, but still nice!  I arrived at work on Tuesday to find these on my desk.  That is a handwritten note from my husband on there because he bought the flowers beforehand and then on Valentines, left early for work, and arrived at my office at like 6:15AM just to leave flowers on my desk, hand delivered by him. Is he the sweetest?  We also got each other cards and I gave him a big bag of Valentine Peanut M&Ms.  He brought us home dinner from Bdubbs and we had a romantic evening at home.  Loving the dark pink color of those roses.  He even got the right color.

Yesterday I felt about the same, little better maybe except for having a killer headache for 1/2 the day.  I managed a part day of work though, came home for a quick dinner with Darrel and then we headed back to church for a praise team rehearsal (because I am worship leader this week).  It made for a long day for Mono girl here and so today... was wiped out.  I feel OK, but tired if I am sitting or laying down... but much more movement than that and it feels like I have lead weights tied to me... This of course means didn't accomplish much more today than playing with the new phone and trying to convince it that my name is not Melanie, I sketched out a plan for Project Life and got my photos printed.  And I went over a solo for Sunday...

Singing What A Savior.  The song alternates between the line "What A Savior" and "You are Savior."  I keep forgetting which one to say when... which causes me to say "Woo a Savior."  That there would be a combo of What and You = Woo.... Bwa ha ha ha... I'm going to end up singing that Sunday and bust out laughing because it makes me sound like Elmer Fudd singing... Let's hope that doesn't happen.  I'll just blame the Mono cause I am definitely thinking there is a syndrome called Mono brain... if there isn't I am inventing it because I definitely have it.  I like drove into a rock in the road the other day, after seeing it.. .then drove into it anyway.  It made a big clunk, I worried I hurt the car and then had to ask myself um why did you do that?  I don't know.. mono brain.

Project Life Tuesaday - Week 5

Project Life Week 5!  Will I ever be posting the current week?  Let's be realistic... not likely! ha!  But.. I can live with a week behind and it gives me more time to play and get my pages done.  Works for me.

So today.. yes, we have pink shoes.. Just not the same ones.  ha!  Actually pink Ugg boots.  I got them at a great sale the other day and they seemed the perfect attire for Valentines Day don't you think?  OK. here I am talking about shoes again.  See how easily that happens?

So I still have a 2 page spread this week.  I went a little bit of a different way with the weekly block this time.  I saw a new CHA products post somewhere and it showed that Jenni Bowlin has this new stencil paper coming out.  That totally made me think of these vintage stencils I have and how fun it would be to use those for the first letter in January and February.  Those stencils belong belonged to my Dad... he used to have them in the garage when I was a kid.  How did I end up with them?  Perhaps I borrowed them.... I also sewed just a smidgen this time.  The stencils are sewn on and the little Martha Stewart doily punch banner is sewn on.  Sewing is not my best thing.  Kinda messy... but it kind of goes with the feel I wanted.  Kinda cute right?

I took the photo on the right when I got back outside for my 2nd walk in over a month, since getting sick with Mono.  While I was walking I found this silk leaf on the ground so I used a piece of it tacked to the photo.

In the middle, the second and 3rd (from the left ) small photos have some old 7 gypsies ATC stuff I had in my stash.  Totally forgot I had these little transparencies and cards for their ATC card spinner thingy that I never finished.  Fun to put them to use here!

Bottom right was another get well card that I received this week.  The Sunday on the Buffalo Wild Wings slot was an acrylic stamp I also forgot I had.  It was part of a KI Memories set I bought ages ago.

On the right I used some pieces of saved labels and packages with the cuties and the Jessica Shoes.  I love Jessica shoes... have I mentioned that?  Just being sure.  Also added some Washi tape, Studio Calico stars, and 2 smash pad inserts.

I also wanted to use a text conversation between my sister and myself when she told us about this great Italian Beef restaurant.  My phone doesn't do a screen capture (that I know of) so I just took a picture of it.  Works for me!

Sorry the pics are a smidgen glarey and darker... no sunshine to be found this week.

Here are a few closer shots.

I had fun. Again.  Really liking this Project Life stuff.  I am in sore need of some more A page protectors though and will be happy when I can get a new box of those in my hot little hands.  Been stalking Amazon pretty much daily!

I am thinking I might get to do an insert this week with date night stuff... not sure.  Got to do my planning tomorrow and see where I am at.

I am linking up again this week to the other Project Life girls over at The Mom Creative.  Be sure to stop over there and check out all the great work.

Did you have a good Valentines day?  I hope to blog again tomorrow and fill you in on all the details.  Maybe.  I have a work and a praise team rehearsal and that might be more than the mono can handle... so we shall see.  Otherwise I will be back on Thursday.  Blessings!

Date Night Point By Point

1) Date Night.  I love date night!  Whether its sitting on the couch together, running around time, etc. Doesn't matter.  Just love that dedicated time together.  Last night was one of the running around type of date nights. Beginning with dinner at Cleavers again.  Yes.  It was just that good last week.  It was just that good this week too!

2) Second stop... the mall.  Or so we thought.  We were headed to the Verizon Wireless kiosk to look at new phones.  Our contract is up and there is a great deal offered right now on the new Motorola Droid Razr Maxx.  They are buy one get one free for the next 10 days (9 now) and since we were both ready for a phone, we decided to take advantage of that offer and that this would be our gift to each other for Valentines Day.  Good idea right?  I was a little uncertain of going with that phone because I am not a big fan of touch screen keyboards.  There is also a new Droid 4 out that has a slider keyboard, so I wanted to play with the 2 of them and make my decision.  OK who would believe the kiosk in the mall did not have either new phone?  What's up with that?  So... back to the car to head to location #2 down the street.

3) Location number 2 has both phones.  We talk to the sales guy.  I play with the phones.  He shows me how the touch screen keyboard can get larger, it has a larger screen, its thin, its light, and data entry wise it also has a swipe option and you can speak and it will type for you.  Cool.  I didn't want to pay full price for 2 phones just because I wanted a keyboard so we went that route.  I think I will be happy with it!  Salesman tried to sell us cases... screen protectors... new home landline phone service... mobile hotspot... you name it.  He did not succeed.  We got out of the store with 2 phones for the price of one, less another $30 because we had a renewal credit on our account.  Happy Valentines Day to us!  (now I just need to be patient until they get more cases on the market so I can turn my phone PINK.  You know patience is not my best thing right?)
4) Next we head back to the mall so that now we can shop a little, pick up my anniversary band from the repair, and pick up a birthday gift we needed.  SO happy to get my ring back.  While we were there, I asked them to clean my other rings.  As is his habit, Darrel slipped my rings back on my finger.  I like had this flash on the first time he did that 25 years ago (almost) and then thought about our upcoming vow renewal and next thing we know I am in tears right in the middle of the mall... yes.. again.  I told you I am a total dork sap...Darrel says he likes that.   Glad he isn't like hey... you are embarassing me... knock it off!
5) Do you have a Dillards near you?  If you do and you are an Ugg boot fan... do not walk, RUN to the store now.  Some styles are currently marked down 60-70%!!  What does that mean?  Um these two pairs that came home with me cost me $50 LESS than the regular price of just ONE pair of boots.  They were a 1/3 of the price!  Swoon!  Especially since those cute pink minis right there completely feel exactly like I am wearing my beloved slippers.  I am IN love people.  Ugg boots for everyone is what I say!

6) After perusing the mall for a bit more, we ended the evening at Schnucks.  They have the most amazing floral department there.  Look... It's like Valentines Land.  I felt right at home.  I *heart* Valentines day... I think we all knew that!  My husband decided I needed a pretty pink rose.  Have I told you how smart he is?
When he does this, he goes over and picks out the best rose in the bucket.  He comes back over to the counter and gets one of those bud water tube thingys and fills it and puts it on the rose and gets it all ready to go and then hands it to me!  I told you he was smart.
7) On the ride home we enjoyed a Starbucks Hot Chocolate.  I promptly came home and washed my cup cause it has a cute red and pink heart design on it and I totally need to cut that out for Project Life.  Don't ya think?  When we got home, we spent some time hugging on the kittens and Darrel took this picture of me and Miss Sophie.  I think I could just take her with me everywhere... Love her.  Pretty fond of Miss Sydney too.

8) On the way home I heard this song and decided that it is the song I am supposed to sing at church next Sunday.  Of course this means I need to learn a new song.. in a week.  It could happen.  I already have the music downloaded.

9) So what have we done today?  Well... I planned to do 20 minutes of Zumba again today.  However I had a really hard time getting woke up today and am a little tired, weak and wobbly.  Probably too much walking around last night and too little rest earlier in the week.  Still planned to try and do some Zumba though.  However Darrel was on a big NO on that idea.  I told him I had to do Zumba because it was on my to do list.  He asked where and when I showed him?  Well he whipped out a black marker and crossed it off my list!  He crossed everything off my list that didn't involve sitting quietly in my chair.... I hate when other people cross stuff off my list.   Good thing I like him..... I also peeked at the new Dear Lizzy Neapolitan line available now over at 2 peas... sooo cool.  Love that pink date stamp.  A few things might have fell in my cart. It's all Lisa's fault.... :)  She is the one who told me about it.

10) And now... I am either taking a nap... or working on Project Life.  Guess we will see what happens first.

Hope you are having a great weekend.  Stay warm.  Feeling like we are in Chicago again here today!
Blessings!

Thankful Thursday

I did it.  I actually cooked today.  Darrel was probably worried I forgot how.  Maybe that was why he tried to talk me out of it several times although we both know he secretly really did want spaghetti! Ha!
No... I had kind of an up and down Mono  unhealthiness healthiness day.  I felt OK (still not 100% normal ... sort of... me) part of the time and I felt yucky part of the time.  That's how it's been going.  I figured I could manage making spaghetti sauce.  Darrel loves my spaghetti.  Apparently I am good at it.  Are least he thinks so and that is all that counts!  So I pulled out my trusty spattered on, written on, recipe in the good ol' red and white cookbook that Darrel's mom gave me before we got married and set out to make some sauce!  And yes... I succeeded.  I made the sauce, he cooked noodles and made bread when he got home and it was all good.

Speaking of things I haven't done in awhile... These are my Zumba shoes.  We should not even talk about how much dust was on my Zumba shoes because a) it would speak to my lack of house keeping skills all the time lately and b) it would also clue you in on how long its been since me and the Zumba were acquainted.
The DR told me to gradually increase my workouts so I think I mentioned I've been trying to do a few times a week 15-20 minutes or so.  Last night I thought.. I like the 20 min Zumba Abs DVD.  I can probably manage that.  Lets do Zumba Abs.  Oh my goodness.... I made it thru the 20 minutes but I needed a serious shower and a nap before dinner.  And today?  Oh my.... totally can tell the muscles have been quietly enjoying the lack of workout laziness.... cause they've been yelling at me and good today!  Yet I am quite HAPPY that the working out has resumed, little as they may be and I am even happier that even though I've allowed some laziness and complacency along with the illness.. I still am the new Deanna who very much WANTS to get back to working out.  Trust me.  No one ever thought I'd be that girl!

Was reading Elsie Blaha's blog today while looking at some Project Life pages.  I love what she wrote about how she is viewing Project Life because it sums up how I've been feeling too!  She wrote: "I have been surprised that my old love of scrapbooking is coming back with this project. I know that the "point" of Project Life is to simplify the scrapbooking process. I think it's awesome that it does that for some people. But for someone like me, who takes a lot of photos and writes a ton, but doesn't really put them all together that often anymore, this project feels like a new creative adventure. The last thing on my mind is simplifying. Instead, it's re-figuring out my style and becoming creative with memory keeping again. It's awesome."  I couldn't have said it better myself.  See I've almost been scolding myself, saying its supposed to be simple, you're doing to much.  Yet the pages I am drawn to, the pages I love are the ones with all the stuff that's been saved and the labels and tags and clips, etc. etc. etc... Love love love that!  I'm drawn to them because that's my style too.  The layers, the stuff, all of it.  I've been scrapbooking like that since I was a teenager.  So why am I worried about it like there are rules saying it should be simple and the PL police are going to come arrest me? Silly girl... No more scolding and saying bad Deanna!  From here on out I intend to cram in everything but the kitchen sink, make it as me as possible and enjoy!

I am finding making my thankful lists has become easier now that I'm a Project Lifer... why?  Cause now I have notes about the week!   Ha!!

This week I've been so thankful for....
  • Cuties! Yes still.  We bought TWO 5 lb boxes in the Big City last week because Walmart was out.  I ate four today.... they're little remember.  I especially love the tiny little sections that you sometimes get hiding in the middle. Yum!
  • Wanting to get back to working out.  Trust me.  For me, just the wanting to is a huge deal!
  • New Jessica shoes! I *heart* platforms
  • Scrapping/Project Life time.
  • Carry out from La Carreta
  • a very sweet kind BFF who loves me for some reason so much so that she submits my work to scrap product manufacturers and then tells me about it.... I told her I need to hire her for PR or something.
  • talking to my Dad on the phone and getting to see where he is working
  • free cookie day at Subway...although they need to quit running out of chocolate chip... or perhaps I need to get there earlier.  Is it possible to get anywhere early when you have Mono?
  • Zumba and sore Abs!
  • new ledger paper and little index cards and Martha labels for scrapping
  • cooking and making spaghetti for my husband
  • finding and actual Italian Beef sandwich in southern IN.  It was sooooo good.
  • Bdubbs pretzels.  I love those things
  • a new fan for the back porch.  The old one died.  It has to be like 30 yrs old... and No.  We don't need it now... but summer is coming and its also the porch light.
  • Walking again.
  • Date Night
  • Darrel's shoulder.  The BEST place to rest my head.
  • Sophie and Sydney
  • getting my Anniversary band back this week!
  • warm Ugg slippers.
  • my church.  Been missing going!
  • Jesus... and His patience with me.
Tomorrow is date night!  Hoping you have a good Friday also!  Blessings!

Project Life Tuesday - Week 4

Yes... it's back.  The famous "gotta have my pink shoes in the picture" picture.  At least you had warning it was me again right?  Lets just say I will take advantage of any oppportunity to include shoes, especially pink ones in any photo, discussion or occasion.  It's a girly girl thing.  Am I right?

So yay!  Project Life Tuesday again! I am thinking most people are posting week 5?  Just to be different... well OK.. just to be me... and behind.. I am posting week 4.  That's allowed right?

This week's spread seemed to include a lot of pink... another good thing.  It's right up there with including shoes.  See.. I wandered back to the shoes again.  Shoes and pink stuff.  It's a good thing.  I think the pink started with this very cute get well card that I got from a friend.  Let's get a better look...

I mean how cute is that?  Little pink piggy with cute fuzzy pink head band on?  Then some of the stuff on the envelope - including the stamp! ha!- was so cute I had to include that too.  I just cut out what I liked and added it to the front.  I had to cut the card down a smidgen to fit it in the pocket, but all the important info, was still inside so I was good with it.

Didn't have quite as many bits and pieces this time, but tried to include what I had, a pamphlet I grabbed at subway, the cover off a new notebook, and a page from our church Newsletter.  The journaling cards are a mix of the Clementine kit, smash pads and the subway one was a mini index card.

Here is the right side.  I tend to do like Sun- Wed. on the left side and Thurs - Sat. on the right side.  Not sure why?  It just seems to end up that way.  On this side I included a screen shot of my blog since I had re-vamped it a bit that week.  I included a picture of me... I know.. shocking... on a day where I was actually feeling somewhat healthy.  Used a Martha S. doily with part of an Avon package for some new eyeliner I tried.  Added a little smash tape on my date night pictures.  Used my soiree clear stamps for the little banner on my Saturday slot for when Darrel was taking the Christmas lights down.  I am in love with the hello gorgeous stamp.  I bought a magnetic word poetry stamp set like 100 years ago... and totally just got into using it now for this project.  Hey at least I used them eventually right?  Looks like they still sell something like it here.  I can't remember which set I have.  I should go look at that shouldn't I?

Here are some close ups of the pages:

Once again this week I am linking up with all the fun over at The Mom Creative. So much fun to see what everyone has done for the week.  Love it and have been making some new friends like Kayla, Jules, and The Hufford House.  They are all doing some awesome Project Life pages.

Are you a Project Lifer?  Leave me a link!  I'd love to see your work.

Until Thursday... Blessings!
