Thankful Thursday

I am so thankful for our snowglobe collection!  It began 25 years ago quite by accident.  I went out Christmas shopping for the day with a friend up to an outlet mall in Northern Indiana.  There was a little Christmas store there and I bought this cute little snowglobe that had a black base and inside was a perfect little Christmas tree.  I had to have it.  When I brought it home, Darrel loved it too.  From that one globe we decided how fun would it be to get one each Christmas, then every year we'd have this cool collection to get out and enjoy.  So now.... 25 years later here you have this year's addition.  Can you see the tiny little nativity scene in the front yard of the little house?  It's on the left.  That alone sold us that this was the one we wanted for this year.  The sad thing?  We should have over 25 globes at this point because we've also received some as gifts.  Several years back, shortly after moving to Indiana, when we got our globes down out of the attic to get them ready for Christmas, we opened the box to find many had broken.  Apparently it got too cold in the attic and they froze, water expanded... they broke.  That was a heart breaking discovery.  That first one was among the casualties.  I'd give up all the rest that broke gladly if I could have just kept that one.  But... on the bright side, most of them survived and we still enjoy getting out our snow globes every year and enjoying them for the Christmas season.  To bad I wasn't a scrapbooker and blogger back then or I would likely at least have a picture of that first snow globe right?

I am also thankful that last Friday we got to go and see The Story tour which was about 2 hours away from us in Louisville IN.  It was fabulous!  If you haven't heard of it you can check out the details here. The Story tour told the story of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation in song and video images.  There was a song about Adam & Eve, Esther, Joseph, David, Jesus, the thief on the cross, etc., etc.  It was amazing.  There was a full orchestra.  There were some fabulous singers like Mark Hall, Natalie Grant, Nicole Nordeman, Matthew West, Jeremy Camp, Selah... who am I forgetting.  At the beginning of the concert each artist did a Christmas song to get things started.  Natalie Grant singing O Holy Night?  Totally worth the price of admission right there.  Mark Hall (from Casting Crowns) sang I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day... the Casting Crowns version.  It was awesome!

The church the concert was at was HUGE.  I think it was as big as the mall!  ha.  The picture above is the Narthex/Atrium area.  They had escalators!  A coffee shop, a gift shop, and 3 levels with balconies in the Sanctuary area.  Here we were enjoying our seats.

The tour was for all of the music inspired by The Story which is a chronological account of the Bible in sort of a novel form. They have all sorts of resources and many churches have gone thru The Story with their church family as a whole.  Love this idea. 

Since going I cannot stop listening to the music and would totally go see it again.  I think this song, Born For This, was my fav.  Mandisa wasn't there to sing it but Amy Perry from Selah sang it and wow!  She rocked it.  If The Story is coming to a town near you?  GO SEE IT.  You will not be sorry. 

I am very thankful for Miss Sophie here who has apparently decided that she should be the first gift under the tree.  Since Sydney died, we've had Sophie in the house with us pretty much daily.  She is a joy and she cracks us up!  She is totally in love with my husband.  Also since Sydney died, she follows Darrel around and sits at his feet and cries wanting him to pick her up and pet her.  If he doesn't do that quickly enough?  She starts jumping on him.  My husband is 6 ft 2 and Miss Sophie jumps higher than his waist while trying to grab hold of his shirt or something so she can stay up there by him.  I have never seen a cat do anything like that so I am thinking Miss Sophie is unique..... ya think?  In case you should doubt her jumping abilities here is some proof for you...

Darrel got a new camera this week and was playing with the multiple shot feature and managed to get this one of Sophie jumping and chasing one of her toys.  She is quite into her toys... especially things with feathers.  Perhaps they are bird flavored.... bwa ha ha ha...

Lots of other things to be thankful for too like....

• Darrel's new camera.  Apparently he likes me enough to let me play with the new camera too.  Of course do not take this as any indication that I know what I am doing.... It's one of those kind of cameras  where you have to be smart.  I am smart enough to know where the auto setting is. 
• Getting my first Christmas card in the mail - and it had a nice gift in it! 
• It's Nov. 29th and I have several gifts purchased.  The tree is up and decorated.  The snow globes are out.  I have several gifts for Darrel.... I am doing good!  I never have that much done this early.
• My Kindle Fire.  Very cool! 
• A good Thanksgiving with family and that my Dad was able to eat! 
• The church Thanksgiving dinner and that Mom and Dad came with us!
• Lunch with a good friend.
• my husband cooking dinner for me
• the Christmas season
• getting out favorite ornaments
• a new pink mouse for my laptop.  The old one was getting on my last nerve...
• chocolate... .enough said
• ugg boots and slippers that help keep my freezing feet warm
• Dennis Basso coats!
• teaching my niece how to do cross stitch with me.  I remember my Mamaw teaching me how to stitch. 
• my Sunday School class and the book we are studying.
• God's patience with me and his love and grace
• reading!!  Always
• Did I mention chocolate?  Yes?  Just checking.
• still loving the new quicker commute for my husband to get home to me!
• Charlie Brown Christmas. I love love love when Linus quotes the scriptures about Jesus' birth.
• hot chocolate and space heaters... are you getting the idea I am cold rather often?
• hot rollers
• Tanner and his love for carrots.  It is toooo funny.  He loves his baby carrots and he knows where we keep them and should we forget to give him his carrot?  Well then we will be hearing about it.

Feeling blessed and grateful today.  Thank you Lord for so many blessings.

Ten On Tuesday .... Almost

1) Almost?  Well it is Tuesday.  And I do have at least 10 things to tell you... But it's almost Midnight at this point and so monogirl is not so sure she will make it for the full 10.  Succesful at posting I am not here lately so let's at least get a head start shall we?  Yes?  Good. 

2) This just in.... Monogirl has a new Kindle Fire!  Did Santa come early?  Did her Kindle Touch break?  Um no.... Amazon had a sale for Cyber Monday and Monogirl became convinced that she must have her own Kindle Fire immediately.  And I do mean immediately because I just ordered it on Monday and already have it in my hot little hands today!  It is way cool.  Not a bad tablet for $129 right?  I can read my books, run my apps, check facebook, email, and browse the web, not to mention watching my amazon prime videos... what's not to love.  Maybe Santa did come early.  I've been a very good girl.  Honest.

3) I swore I was NOT going to do a December Daily album this year.  Why?  Um because a) I am thinking one should actually be a scrapbooker... and it's looking doubtful here lately if one must actually produce something that has been scrapbooked... and b) I still have a minimum of two unfinished DDA's from prior years.  What am I thinking right?  Well I am thinking October Afternoon had this fabulous vintagey looking DDA kit that just begged to be purchased.  It begs to be scrapped too am I right?  Maybe I can actually keep it simple and manage to get to the new year with a completed Christmas book.  It could happen.  Pigs could sprout wings and fly too.....

 
4) The fabulous PINK Christmas tree is up and decorated and I now declare that Christmas may begin!  Christmas may not begin till the Pink tree is in place.  That just wouldn't be right.  I got this decorated this afternoon and a little person from church happened to be walking by and told me it looked Beeeeautiful.  I decided that meant we should definitely call it good and be done. Can't get a better compliment than that right? 

5) Remember I mentioned being in a stitching mood... couldn't find the bag of stitching I was sure I had... ordered new stitching?  Are we up to date now?  Good... Well the new stitching came.  It mentioned using/needing a hoop.  I had forgotten about that.  Darrel went to grab my hoops... or where we thought my hoops were and guess what?  Found the bag of stitching.  AND of course did not find any hoops.  I guess they will be wherever the next thing is that I go looking for. So far I have stitched one antler of one reindeer.... not looking good to have an ornament hanging on the tree this year is it? 

6) Two date nights ago we headed into town.. not the Big City.. and got to watch a Christmas light parade.  Very fun and does a very good job of putting you in the mood for the season.  One of the floats was in that picture on my last post.  Afterwards, all the stores in town are open for evening hours (which they usually are not!  Generally sidewalk rolls up at like 5PM when you live in the little town) so we walked around and did a little shopping.  We still had a wedding gift card for the Bible Bookstore so we got this year's snow globe!  I still need to take a picture but it's a Thomas Kincade and has a cottage with a tiny little manger scene on the front lawn.  LOVE.  We also got a small start on Christmas shopping so I am thinking hey... not even December yet and I have been to a Christmas parade, bought a few gifts and have 2 Christmas trees up?  I am doing good... and one might say extremely good if one is also known as Monogirl. 

7) Speaking of two trees.  Here is the one in our house.  Darrel got it hauled in last night, fixed some lights that were out tonight and Viola!  Ornaments are added.  Tree is done!  Tomorrow night we get out the snow globes and the snowmen and we should be officially decorated.  I am never this early... maybe being Monogirl is a good thing.


8) Well l made it all the way to 8!  Yay me.  Let's say I owe you two more thoughts so of course you will want to tune in tomorrow.  I mean I am sure it is quite the cliff hanger to tell you I have pictures of Sophie in action and under the tree... and I need to tell you alllll about The Story tour that we saw last Friday night.  SO good.  There.. consider yourself teased.  I will also be posting more frequently for Christmas.  Since I guess I am now doing a DDA... although I don't plan to make it daily.. more a December Hit The High Points album... rather than a daily album so perhaps we should call it a DHTHPA.  Of course that looks like some disease.. so maybe not.  Where were we?  Oh yep.. was saying goodnight for now and you were tuning in tomorrow.  Right?  Are we done?  I am so confused.  Monogirl will leave it at that and bid you goodnight!  Blessings! 

Just Stopping In...

Yes.. it's time for 10 on Tuesday.  No.  I am not here to post for 10 on Tuesday.  Monogirl here is just trying to get thru the week.  It's a short week due to the Holiday which yes is a GOOD thing.  BUT it also means getting a week's worth of work done in 3 days.  Not such an easy task for Monogirl.  I am doing better.  Even got in a few workouts this week.  After the last two days of work though... I am dragging this evening and I've got one more day to get thru. So I stopped in to say Hi and please tune in tomorrow for today's delayed post.  I have to tell you about date night, my latest stitching adventures, my husband's new commute to work...and a story about a cat with a dog food can on its head.... I'll leave you with a picture here from date night this past week which started with a fabulous Christmas parade.  So fun and such a fun way to start the Holiday season.  But for now... I bid you goodnight cause Monogirl has to find her bed if she has any hope of making it thru the day tomorrow.  Blessings!

Thankful Thursday

So I took this picture so I could show you my new coat.. but now?  I am thinking it looks like a headless teddy bear that happens to be resting on my couch.  It's soft and cuddly like a great teddy bear so I guess that works too!  Decided I needed a new winter jacket and as much as I love my other Dennis Basso winter coat?  Well I then of course decided my jacket should be from Dennis as well.  Good decision cause this coat is fabulous!  Now.. I just need me some winter weather to go with it.    How cool is this red one?  Perhaps I need a Dennis Basso coat collection.  You totally saw that coming didn't you?  Can you see how this new one has a cool ombre effect?  Starts off at the top as a dark brown and flows into black at the bottom.  Very cool.  Now.. to find the perfect scarf.  Very thankful for a new coat!

I am also thankful for a great walk today.  I have had such a hard time getting back out there with all this fatigue but Monogirl is determined not to give up.  However being Monogirl she has spent most of the recent walks in town.... where the ground is flat.  Today?  Headed back to the campground to see if I could tackle a hill or two again.  Oh my goodness... I forgot how the hills feel.  Thought I might have to stop by the side of the road and  have myself a nap.  Did I do that?  Nope.  I kept going and you know what?  It got better and even though by the end my legs were even more tired I could somehow climb the hills better than at first.  I was quite happy with myself for making it and now I want to do more.  I soooo want to get back to what I was able to do a year ago.  This whole year of being Monogirl has taken its toll and trust me when I tell you I am soooooo over it.

In other random thankfulness today there would be....

• Cuties!  Love those things and soooo happy that they are back in season.  Darrel spotted them at the store and brought home a big bag.  Is he the best husband ever?  Of course.  But then, we all already knew that.
• I decided today I am also quite thankful I have not been featured on that show Hoarders.. I was going through my closet and some drawers today trying to make room for the stuff I like and get rid of the stuff that just sits and WHY is it a shirt can hang in my closet for literally years untouched but the minute I think of getting rid of it I can think of 152 reasons why I should keep it?  It must be part of that hoarding collecting sickness....
• Thankful I am sitting here with a fresh BLUE manicure.  Yes. Blue.  It was one of the colors in that OPI/Sephora TSV that I mentioned.  I am trying to decide if it looks cute or if I have seriously gone over to the monogirl dark side.
• I am still in a stitching mood but could not find my little bag of to be stitched ornaments.  I am thankful that I popped on over to Joanns and amazon and viola!  Fresh to be stitched ornaments are winging their way to me even as we type...
• I am thankful that my house is currently the cleanest its been in literally months.  It's not all the way there yet but I can see the light at the end of the cleaning tunnel.  Bad thing?  The cleaning tunnel has a u-turn in it and you just have to do this stuff all over again. 
• I am thankful you are still reading even though I seem to have a thing today about using the word "literally" like every other sentence.  Perhaps I have seen that King of Queens episode where Janeane Garolfalo guest stars as Doug's ex-girlfriend, and continually uses the word literally literally one two many times? 
• You are literally REALLY good if you followed all that.  Bwa ha ha ha ha
• date night at home with pizza, bdubbs pretzels and 2 good movies!
• time with family on Sunday
• seeing improvement in my Dad
• that I have a few things bought for Darrel's Christmas already!  yay me!
• That I think I have a dress for Darrel's Christmas party which is coming up like 2 weeks!
• singing at church this past week
• A great lunch with a good friend yesterday
• getting to stop at a local candy and Carmel corn place.  SO good.  You have to try their dark chocolate dipped pretzels.  YUM. 
• a husband who cooks!  He made awesome omelets and hashbrowns on Saturday and he also makes great patty melts!
• that my hair is getting longer.  I can feel my pony tail swinging now when I walk. 

Been enjoying this month of gratitude.  It can really put ones thinking into the proper perspective.

Ten On Tuesday

1) So how did a whole week go by? I have no idea. When you are Monogirl and you have a sinus infection and a cold time seems to fly by because you are either asleep all the time or just feeling like you are asleep all the time and um either way? You have no idea where the time went. That would be pretty true of this whole year so why should November be different right? So lets see if we can't catch up on the past week or so.

2) Date night, a week ago Friday we decided to head to town...not to be confused with the big city... and grab some dinner (which was a really good China buffet). Next stop? Good Ol' walmart so we could shop for items for our Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes! This was SO fun. I did a box for 2-4 yr old girl, and Darrel did one for 2-4 year old boy. After some of the testimonies we've read and seen videos about where a child received something in their box that was exactly what they needed, we've made it a practice to pray over our boxes and ask God to show us what the child that will be receiving it needs. This one was the one I put together. There was a little bit of pink stuff... but you knew that.

How fun does that look? A dolly, a cookie monster, some play dough, crayons and a sparkly notebook and um pink shoes among other things... What's not fun about that?

Darrel picked out very cool stuff for his box too...

After his experience on the mission trip to Haiti a few years ago, it kind of made us both see this project in a new light. Very cool.

When we got it all home, then came the challenge of stuffing it all IN the box. This always sounds easier than it turns out to be... This year Darrel had a little help from Miss Sophie.

3)Have you heard about "The Story" ?? I heard about it last year at Christmas and sang the song Be Born in Me at church. Love that song! Well this year, I kept hearing on the radio about The Story Tour but the station I listen to is from Illinois and so of course the concert was in ... you guessed it Illinois. Finally it dawns on me... cause I am smart like that... to check on their web site if there is a concert closer to us? Well wouldn't you know it? There is!! Yay!! So.. in about a week and 1/2 my Date and I will get to see Matthew West, Jeremy Camp, Nicole Nordeman... and others up close and personal! Can't wait!

4) OK scrappers... do you buy from Peachycheap.com and their deal of the day?  I have on occasion but one day last week what did they have?  American Crafts glitter tape!  like 24 rolls for like $12.99.  I thought well I am allll over that one.. until I clicked on the deal and sadly discovered the deal was sold out.  Bummer.... Apparently I wasn't the only sad scrapper because low and behold a few hours later they found some more tape!  Yay!  And yes... I did snag me one of those babies.  And yes... it will certainly help feed my current washi tape... decorative tape addiction which was sorely lacking anything with glitter.  How did that happen?

5) Oh.. and on the peachy cheap thing... are you seeing today's deal?  24 spools of AC twine for $9.99?  That's like 60% off!  And yes... SOLD again.  Perhaps I should actually scrap something if I am going to continue to purchase supplies.  There's an idea...

6) Very thankful at the improvement we are seeing in my Dad.  He called me this weekend and I missed the call.  I had not talked to him (I had texted though) for about 3 weeks.  I didn't think I could talk to him on the phone because last time I saw him, the radiation had pretty much taken his voice.  Imagine my surprise when I called him back and he sounded like my Dad again!  It was so cool and I was so happy about that I promptly got off the phone and cried.  Happy tears of course!  He has also had enough hair grow back that my sister gave him a trim on Sunday to neaten him up!  Another very cool moment after all that has happened in the past few months!

7) Sunday we celebrated our nieces 15th birthday.  15... when did that happen?  One minute she is little and cute and telling us her ice cream joke and the next minute she looks like she's 20 and is starting to drive.  Does that mean I'm getting old? 

8) My husband has come up with a new dinner creation.. and yes.. he cooked it. White meat turkey burgers made into a patty melt with fresh homemade Amish wheat bread.  YUM.  Definitely worth the onion breath.  Love turkey burgers and these patty melts?  Could eat them every day... well maybe almost every day, I need a day or two left over for Mexican food. 

9) I think the QVC people had me in mind when they decided on their recent TSV... Knowing my love for OPI nail polish... Sephora polish.... glitter.... Look what they made just for me?  15 piece holiday OPI/sephora nail polish collection.  Yes.  Once again.  SOLD.  Maybe we should have called this 10 on Tues. for shopping? 

10) I've barely scrapped this year.  I have multiple unfinished knitting projects.  I had all these big plans to crochet.  Have I done any of that?  No.  Do I dive in and finish that instead of starting something new?  Um no.... For some reason I am suddenly in a stitching mood.  You know.. cross stitch.  Embroidery... I used to do that too.  Not my best thing.. but I enjoyed it.  I am now on a mission because I remember having a bag that had a bunch of little Christmas cross stitch/embroidery ornament kits.  Yes.  They are about 100 years old now.  BUT I am no intending to go thru my craft supply bins until said bag is located.  Then I am going to sit myself down in my chair while I am resting and trying to keep from coughing up that lung... yes.. still.... and stitch myself an ornament.  True story.  Just wait and see... cause you know there will be a photo.

Choosing Gratitude

My attitude of gratitude was waning a bit yesterday... not good.  I know better than that.  I know that when I least feel like thinking of reasons to be grateful, that is the time it is most important that I do it!  Making the choice to think of the good things can totally shift perspective and bad moods.  So looking at yesterday from that standpoint.... lets start from there

• although I woke up feeling like I was about to cough up that lung I've mentioned, I am thankful my husband told me to go back to bed while he headed to church and handled several of my responsibilities for the morning
• it was also pretty awesome to not miss out on La Carreta... our normal Sunday lunch.  Monogirl couldn't go to La Carreta so the sweet husband made sure La Carreta came to her!  He also brought bdubbs pretzels.  Another fav. 
• VERY thankful that my Dad has been able to eat a little bit again.  Near the end of the chemo and radiation treatments eating by mouth become impossible.  Now he has been able to eat a little bit again AND he has been able to taste the food. We've been specifically praying that his taste buds would not be harmed by the radiation. So today, when he said graham crackers tasted like graham crackers?  Well I have never been so happy to hear that a graham cracker tasted good. 
• thankful for my DR who is giving me more meds for this stinking sinus/throat thing that does not seem to be going away.  Monogirl has enough on her hands being monogirl... no extra illnesses needed.
• Was reading the Dear Lizzy blog today and came across this post about her new products. It's been like forever since I created a page yet I am thankful that when I was looking at her cool new stuff... have to admit I felt a tiny little scrapping spark flicker somewhere deep down inside.  Perhaps there is hope for me yet?

Continuing An Attitude of Gratitude

So of course the first thing to be thankful for on a Saturday would be Saturday pancakes.  And to expand on that thought... thankful for the husband who made them and spent time with me this morning and for a non-syrup covered carpet at the conclusion of said Saturday morning pancakes. Spilling syrup on the carpet once this decade is more than plenty. Show of hands if you agree? 

We get to "fall back" today... which means an extra hour to the weekend.  I can certainly get on board with a thankful attitude on that one!  I much prefer gaining an hour on my fall weekend than having to give one up in the spring.  I vote when we have to give the hour back it should always be deducted from a Monday.  How about Monday morning to be specific? Anyone not want to sleep an extra hour on their Monday morning?  Perhaps we can start some sort of blogdom petition before the springing ahead commences next year. 

For date night last evening, we found we were very thankful that God apparently blessed our Operation Christmas Child shopping efforts by giving us a cart at walmart that I did not have to stop and kick 1/2 way thru the store.  It was quiet.  It steered straight.  It was not covered in grime.... all very rare things on their own where Walmart shopping carts are concerned so to have a perfect cart? Quite a blessing. 

As the evening comes to a close I am also feeling the gratitude because I have managed to make it thru the day without coughing up a lung.  This seemed imminent when I got up this morning. It has not been a feel good type of day for Monogirls with bad colds... but we will be thankful for the good parts.... such as quieted coughing and time to rest. 

While resting this afternoon I discovered a rapidly discharging battery on my laptop even though it was plugged in.  NOT thankful for that.... However problem solver husband to the rescue.  He found that my cord is damaged, ordered me a new one... and managed to get the broken one to work until the new cord arrives.  Much gratitude for smart McGyver type husbands. 

See how that worked out?  Starting and ending today with being thankful for my husband.  He takes good care of me and for that.....  So blessed and eternally thankful. 

Gratitude Diffuses Attitude

I was thinking since it's Thanksgiving month and the whole 30 days of Thankfulness is going on over on Facebook (every time I say "over on Facebook" or some other website I totally get this mental image that it sounds like Facebook is just around the corner and down the street... you know, like you walked over there to visit once you were done on my blog. Why do I share these things?  You will think I'm more nuts than you already do... )    perhaps I could manage to do a quick thankful post here on the ol' blog each day for the month of November.  Yes... even without a photo.  Shocking I know.  I'll make an effort to get over it.

So with that in mind here are a few thankful thoughts for this beautiful Friday.

• I am quite thankful that the new Danskos I am wearing have loosened up a bit.  Goodness.  They were like totally cutting off my circulation around my instep.  Why does this happen when they are the exact same size as the other 3 pairs I own?  I do not need additional stress from the Danskos people OK? 
• I am very thankful for the space heater at my feet and the mug of hot chocolate in my hand.  Yes, I am aware it is a beautiful 50 some degrees outside.  I however am still about to freeze. 
• I am so thankful for date night!  (this was what I posted on FB today) I love date night.  I love that it's important to my husband too.  I love that he still says "hey, will you spend Friday night with me?"  or "will you go out with me?"  I may be an old old married lady but that there still just makes me go weak in the knees.  I mean he's a pretty cute date and then to be all romantic and gentlemanly too?  Hubba Hubba. 
•  I am thankful for WBGL and their Christian music that keep me company and uplifts me thoughout my day.

Thankful Thursday

Yes, I delivered on the promised picture of the new purse.  You were on the edge of your seat waiting weren't you?  Or perhaps you have a life... unlike me... who has time to take pictures of pink purses at 11:50 at night.  But... I digress.. The purse!  This is a Coach Park Carryall in rose pink.  I was pleasantly surprised by the shade of pink.  In the photo online I was thinking I might have to save it for spring because it looked like more of an Easter pink.  In actuality it turns out its a darker rose color which brings to mind a fall pink... in my head anyway.  The world may not think there is a "fall" pink... but in Deanna's world... of course there is a fall pink.  I am sure you are so glad I explained that to you.  You are welcome.  And me?  I am thankful for a pretty pink purse.  A girl can never have too many cute pink purses, fall or otherwise. 

I am also SOOOOO thankful that today was my Dad's last radiation treatment for the 7 week course of radiation he has just been thru.  God willing it is his very last radiation treatment ever!  He is also finished with Chemo and for that we also say a huge Thank you Jesus! We now have to wait.  You may recall, waiting is not my best thing.  In one month we see the chemo DR again.  In 2 mos., he has a scan to see that the Chemo and radiation have accomplished what we hope, and in 3 mos. he sees the radiation DR again.   I think I have that all straight.  During that time we will be very thankful as he heals and recovers from all the damage the radiation has done.  Please keep those prayers coming that the scan in 2 mos.  will show what I already believe God has done and that will be that my Dad is cancer free! 

This evening I found myself thankful for the trail of feathers that wound its way thru my dining room.  Why?  Because it meant Miss Sophie had been running and playing and enjoying her apparently bird flavored toy. Still missing Miss Sydney and sad that she is gone but it makes me even more thankful for Sophie and the bright spot she is in our day. 

Other Random thankful thoughts would include.....

• Nyquil.  Yes.  I still have a cold.
• my husband who has been so supportive and caring through this whole year of Monogirl nonsense...
• Unglued... We are doing this book in Sunday School and wow.  Chapter 8? So powerful.
• Clergy Appreciation Month.  Several church people included me this year.  I was so blessed by that since I am not a "clergy" but the admin. assistant. 
• new Danskos
• OK.. and new Yoga pants.  They go with the Danskos, remember?
• still loving my Kindle and reading
• sleeping in
• A date night out in the Big City last week
• lunch at our favorite restaurant
• pretty fall weather
• my favorite perfume
• Saturday pancakes
• getting to spend time with my husband even though he's had lots of overtime lately
• that we get an extra hour this weekend
• Christmas music.  I might have already listened to the soundtrack from Elf. 
• shelter and safety this week while other areas were struggling with the hurricane
• a giant pink rose from my husband on date night
• feeling like maybe... just maybe... this last dosage increase on the vit. D meds might be making a difference. 
• the look on my husbands face when he saw me in a sparkly new shirt for date night
• hot chocolate
• good friends who love, support, and encourage me so much
• uggs
• comfy pjs

Looks like lots of people are also participating in a month of thankfulness over on FB for November.  That along with my little Thankful Thursday posts here made this passage in my Unglued book really speak to me today... ""Rejoice in the Lord always.  I will say it again: Rejoice!" (Philippians 4:4) .  The more my heart is parked in a place of thanksgiving and rejoicing, the less room I have for grumpiness.""  then she went on to say " The more I rejoice, the more I keep things in perspective.  The more I keep things in perspective, the gentler I become."
